May 4, 2015

In this episode of IPR Studio One's "Java Blend" Ben Kieffer will chat with Quad Cities based artist, Lojo Russo.

Download the podcast for a full hour of Americana, blues, and roots music from the renouned vocalist backed by two local favorites, Gayla Drake and Laurie Haag.

Whether playing festivals or front steps, coffeehouses or concert halls her music, her style and her stories never cease to amaze and amuse. Her enormous stage energy, powerful voice and percussive playing style belie her small frame. As one producer put it, “Lojo Russo is a one-woman show that shows you only need one woman!”

Lojo Russo has been making music along the “Big Muddy” for most of her life. From her days in psychedelic rock bands in the Twin Cities to her current gig playing roots and Americana in the Quad Cities she’s been laying down her own brand of funky, folky, rhythm & roots to audiences all over the country.  Russo’s not-so-traditional blend of roots, blues and Americana gives her music an old-timey feel with a contemporary perspective.
