Hillary Clinton in Cedar Rapids

Former Secretary of State  and potential 2016 presidential candidate Hillary Clinton was at a union hall in Cedar Rapids today.

Clinton is stumping for Democratic U.S. Senate candidate Bruce Braley who is in a tough election fight with Republican State Senator Joni Ernst.   Clinton has been helping out in half a dozen U.S. Senate races across the country.

To a crowd of about 400 cheering supporters, Clinton champions Braley as an advocate for women and the middle class in a cutthroat campaign.

“With Bruce Braley you have somebody who has answered questions endlessly from one end of the state to the other," Clinton says "(He's) withstood a withering barrage of negative ads and innuendo and is still standing strong on your behalf."

Clinton praises  Braley for championing retirement security, and an  increase in the minimum wage.

Braley says there’s a lot of work to do in the next six days.

“This is all about  getting out the vote,” Braley says, “in Linn county and all 99 counties in Iowa and we need your help to do that.”

Braley and Clinton also campaigned in to Davenport. Ernst is also attracting top-drawer Republicans on her behalf, including Arizona Senator and one-time GOP presidential candidate John McCain in Coralville.
