Yo-Yo Ma performs on Iowa Public Radio in a special live broadcast of the Quad City Symphony Orchestra’s 100th Season Celebration Concert. The program will air at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday, May 14, 2015 live from the Adler Theatre in Davenport. There will be selections from a taped pre-concert interview with Mr. Ma during the 7:00 hour.
The concert opens with Brahms’s colorful Academic Festival Overture, written as a thank you to the University of Breslau and employing student drinking songs for musical material. The symphony performs Tchaikovsky’s deeply romantic Romeo and Juliet Fantasy Overture. The program concludes with world-renowned Yo-Yo Ma joining the orchestra to perform Dvorak’s Cello Concerto in b minor. Tune in to Iowa Public Radio on May 14 at 7:00 to hear the pre-show interview before our special live broadcast at 7:30.
