When the temperatures drop in the fall, suddenly the outdoors become insect-free. Then as soon as it warms up in the spring, many species of insect reappear instantly.

Entomologist Laura Iles joins this episode of Garden Variety to demystify the phenomenon and share strategies different insect species use to survive the winter months.
