The gun legislation signed by Gov. Reynolds goes into effect on July 1.

Gov. Kim Reynolds signed a bill into law at the very end of last week that will allow Iowans to buy or carry a concealed handgun without a permit. There was also another self-imposed deadline in the Iowa legislature last week for bills to advance. IPR Morning Edition host Clay Masters talks to IPR state government reporter Katarina Sostaric about these topics.
