Working Women: Broken and Persisting Barriers
Women who came of age in the 1960s and 1970s had educational opportunities and careers that their mothers and grandmothers never knew, but many barriers still stood in their way.
Host Charity Nebbe discusses the evolution of women's roles in the workplace with sociologist Ruth Milkman. She also talks with Phyllis Richman, who in 1961 was told that a Harvard Graduate education would be a waste of time because she was a married woman, and Linda Mason Hunter, who was laughed out of a TV newsroom in 1973 because she was a woman.
