Iowans Work for Rural Development in Uganda
An Iowa program is improving the livelihood of thousands of rural Ugandans. This alliance of scientists, economists and farmers in Africa and the United States is working to improve the lives of small land-holder farmers. This hour, we'll talk about the role that Iowa is playing in Africa's agricultural future: coordinating seed production, providing support for small farm operations and setting up mentorship opportunities. Guests are Dr. Mark Westgate and Dr. Manjit Misra of Iowa State University's Center for Sustainable Rural Livelihoods; and ISU Extension's Mary Holz-Clause and Linda Naeve, who are in Uganda now to work with Iowa women farmer volunteers.
