Ben Stanton’s first experience on the air was producing and hosting public affairs shows for KMIK in Phoenix, Arizona in 2005. Ben later moved to Iowa to work as News Director for KCII in Washington County. His work included an annual agriculture series that won awards from the Iowa Broadcast News Association.
Ben moved into public radio as the first full-time news reporter for KDLL in Kenai, Alaska. There he developed a taste for sockeye salmon and sound-rich reporting. He could be heard talking about the dip-net fishery at the mouth of the Kenai River, local politics, dog mushing, the oil and gas industry, commercial fishermen poets, ice sculpting, and the 2009 eruption of Mount Redoubt. He also helped produce and occasionally host the KDLL/KBBI program “Coffee Table.” His work was regularly featured statewide on the Alaska Public Radio Network. He won numerous awards from the Alaska Press Club and the Alaska Broadcasters Association.
Ben’s favorite radio program is Talk of the Nation - Political Junkie.
