Special guest pianist and Iowa native Conor Hanick joins the orchestra to perform John Adams Century Rolls. Inspired by the edgy and rhythmic sound of piano rolls on a player-piano, the piano concerto quotes composers such as Ravel, Debussy, Gershwin, and Fats Waller amidst the musical image of an orchestra "aligned amongst the cogs and wheels of a bustling rhythmic machine."
Tue, 28 Jan 2014 12:00:00 +0000 Jacqueline Halbloom 34999 at http://iowapublicradio.org Symphonies of Iowa presents wcfsymphony's "Opening-Night Gala" 2/2 and 2/3 The Planets Revisited with the wcfsymphony http://iowapublicradio.org/post/planets-revisited-wcfsymphony
Join us Monday at 7PM to explore The Planets, with the music of Gustav Holst and insights from artist Gary Kelley and music director Jason Weinberger, who conducts the wcfsymphony.
