11/7/06 (Des Moines) - Robin Fraser has accepted the position of Director of Development for Iowa Public Radio and will take up his responsibilities in mid-December 2006.
Fraser comes to IPR from the Mercy Healthcare Foundation in Clinton, Iowa, where he has served as president since 1990. Fraser designed and built the foundation, which raises funds to support equipment purchases and enhance programs of the medical center. During his tenure, the foundation has raised more than $6 million to expand and improve services to patients.
At Iowa Public Radio, Fraser will be responsible for consolidating the current fundraising activities of the stations in Ames, Cedar Falls and Iowa City, as IPR evolves into a statewide network. In addition, he will be charged with expanding IPR's fundraising portfolio to include major gifts from individuals, corporations and foundations.
"Robin has a unique set of skills and fundraising experiences that mesh well with Iowa Public Radio’s development needs. He understands the relationship between IPR and listeners in communities across the state," says Cindy Browne, IPR Executive Director. "In addition, Robin understands that IPR's success depends on the quality of the partnership between staff, volunteers and donors."
"I look forward to joining the professionals working for IPR. I am impressed with their commitment to quality, innovation, and meeting the needs of the people of Iowa," said Fraser.
Fraser graduated from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln with a B.A. in social psychology. He will be paid an annual salary of $90,000 and will be located in Des Moines.
Iowa Public Radio was formed in 2005 to align the stations of the WOI Radio Group/Ames, KUNI-KHKE/Cedar Falls and KSUI-WSUI/Iowa City in greater service to the people of Iowa.
