Tom Ashbrook is known for his genuine curiosity, a deep understanding of what’s going on in the world, and a mental agility that allows him to speak eloquently on a range of topics. At this Q&A with Iowa Public Radio’s Morning Edition host Clay Masters, Tom will discuss his remarkable journey from his childhood spent on a farm in Illinois, to his formative years at Yale and abroad in Asia and around the world, and his plunge after 9/11 into radio and the world of NPR.
“Our country is divided and we’ve simply got to talk things out,” says host Tom Ashbrook. “Every day on the show, we draw passionate listeners and live callers from across all ages, regions, and political categories. Our first-ever national tour has been a major initiative to listen and probe and navigate the ground between left and right, and look for what unites us all—and we’re wrapping up our year of travels and listening in Iowa.”
