Merrill has just returned from a month-long trip on behalf of the program that took him to Baghdad and the Kurdish region of Iraq, Abu Dhabi, and Turkey. He is about to leave for Uzbekistan and Turkmenistan as part of a cultural diplomacy mission for the State Department.
