Iowa Arts Showcase

First Saturday of the month at 11 a.m. and 5 p.m. on IPR Classical

For one hour each month Jacqueline Halbloom will highlight the efforts and activities of non-profit arts and culture organizations throughout Iowa.  She will focus on performing arts organizations, festivals, visual arts organizations, and other cultural centers.  Iowa Arts Showcase will shine a light on the contributions of arts organizations to Iowa communities.

Ways to Connect

American director and choreographer Pat Birch teams up with Shari Roads, Music Director of Way Off Broadway, to highlight their upcoming production of The Orphan Train, a new musical taking place at the Sondheim Center for the Performing Arts in Fairfield.

This month Jacqueline speaks with Michael Egel, Artistic Director of Des Moines Metro Opera, about the 40th anniversary season of the company.  She will preview this month's Cedar Valley Chamber Music Festival with impresario Hunter Capoccioni.  Educator and musician Bill Shepherd discusses the band movement in Iowa, and, Maestro Joseph Giunta previews the 75th anniversary season of the Des Moines Symphony Orchestra.
