During Curt Snook’s noon hour show, Des Moines Symphony Orchestra’s Maestro Joseph Giunta joins Iowa Public Radio’s Jacqueline Hallbloom to discuss the DMSO’s upcoming Symphonie Fantastique performance on Saturday, Oct. 27 and Sunday, Oct. 28, 2012. Maestro Giunta will share about their program including The Sorcerer’s Apprentice by Dukas, the Violin Concerto No. 1 in g minor by Bruch, and Symphonie Fantastique by Berlioz.

During Curt Snook’s 11 a.m. hour show, Waterloo-Cedar Falls Symphony Orchestra’s director Jason Weinberger joins Iowa Public Radio’s Jacqueline Halbloom to discuss the WCFSO’s upcoming Tchaikovsky Piano Concerto performance on Saturday, Oct. 27. Dror Biran, one of Israel’s most admired and gifted pianists will also appear as a guest performer for the concert.

Stay with Curt Snook’s show, during the 11 a.m. hour as the Des Moines Symphony’s Maestro Joseph Giunta joins IPR's Jacqueline Halbloom by phone to talk about the orchestra’s 75th Anniversary Season Debut: Scheherazade and Nomade to be held on September 29th and 30th at the Civic Center of Greater Des Moines. Maestro Giunta will chat about their world premiere of a newly-commissioned piece by Steve Heitzeg for this occasion called a Symphony In Sculpture.

During Curt Snook’s program in the 11 a.m. hour, Jason Weinberger, director of the Waterloo-Cedar Falls Symphony and Indie singer-songwriter Gabriel Kahane, join IPR’s Jacqueline Halbloom to discuss the WCFSO’s opening performance of the season on Saturday, September 22nd at 7:30 p.m. The program includes Kahane singing and performing on guitar and piano with the orchestra his 2012 work called Crane Palimpsest for Baritone and Chamber Orchestra. They discuss Purcell’s incidental music to the Fairy Queen and Beethoven’s famous Pastoral Symphony.
