In 1966, I was the drummer in my Jr. High Band, (Sudlow Jr High in Davenport) Tortoise & The Hair. Like all the other basement/garage bands in the Quad Cities, our song list included lots of British Invasion songs. Also, like all the other bands in the area, we played She's Not There by The Zombies. That means my connection to The Zombies music is now 48 years old! I have never heard them play live, but Saturday, Feb. 22, during Backtracks, that will change via exclusive IPR recordings of original keyboard player/leader Rod Argent, original singer Colin Blunstone, and The Zombies at The Maximum Ames Music Festival, Sept. 28, 2013. I'm really looking forward to hearing the band from these one of a kind, historic recordings, heard ONLY on Iowa Public Radio stations. The show starts at 3pm with about 20 minutes worth of "Invasion Music", followed by the ENTIRE show from last Fall.
