Zach Wahls Reflects on White House Internship

Courtesy of Zach Wahls

What is it like to be an intern at the White House? What jobs are you given?

How often do you see the President… or the First Lady?

In this River to River interview, host Ben Kieffer talks with Iowan Zach Wahls, who just completed a summer internship at the White House.

Cynicism surrounding politics today "has to be seen as public enemy number one"

Zach Wahls is an Iowa City native, known for his address to the Iowa House Judiciary Committee in a public hearing on a proposed constitutional amendment to ban gay marriage in Iowa back in 2011. He has since spoken at the 2012 Democratic National Convention, and he is the co-founder of the advocacy group, Scout of Equality, that promotes equal rights for LGBTQ members in Boy Scouts of America policy.
