Wooden Nickel Lottery keeps blues lively

On this episode of IPR Studio One's "Java Blend," host Ben Kieffer catches up with Iowa blues-rockers Wooden Nickel Lottery.

Lend an ear to hear the group's blistering guitar work, powerful vocals and solid bottom from their debut record, "On My Way."

Wooden Nickel Lottery is an Eastern Iowa blues/rock band with the power, chops and soul
to satisfy fans of blues/rock. Fronted by Rick Gallo’s energetic and soulful vocals, WNL plays
a mix of original blues/rock as well as classic and contemporary blues/rock covers. Guitarist
and band songwriter Rich Toomsen keeps it lively with a steady stream of guitar licks. Jess Toomsen
brings her special flavor of solid low end to the mix on the bass while Delayne Stallman locks in a
steady groove on drums. The group’s sonic influences include Joe Bonamassa, Eric Clapton and
Johnny Lang, but draw on the grooves of funk rock with the heart of a true blues jam band.
