This week’s Symphonies of Iowa broadcast features the wcfsymphony’s “Copland and Clarinet” concert. The concert includes pieces by Zhou Long and Aaron Copland, and features two Klezmer sets with virtuoso clarinetist, David Krakauer.
Copland’s The Red Pony was composed as a score to a film adaptation of John Steinbeck’s novel of the same name. It includes folklike melodies and unusual instrumental colors, derived from the dramatic action of the film. The Rhyme of Taigu explores the Chinese art form of Taiko drumming. Virtuoso clarinetist David Krakauer presents Klezmer, the energetic, Jewish traditional genre of clarinet playing. Join us on Sunday, February 28 at 4 p.m. and again on Monday, February 29 at 7 p.m. for this Symphonies of Iowa broadcast!
