Title IX became law in June of 1972, the act guarantees gender equality in education, but the greatest impact has been seen in sports. It declares that, "No person in the United States shall, on the basis of sex, be excluded from participation in, be denied the benefits of, or be subjected to discrimination under any education program or activity receiving Federal financial assistance..."

Talk of Iowa speaks with former director for the Iowa Women’s Athletic Department Christine Grant, UI journalism professor Pam Creedon, UI women's basketball head coach Lisa Bluder, and UNI Director of Athletics Troy Dannen.

We’ll talk about how life has changed because of the act and explore some of the compromises that have had to be made.
