As President Barack Obama enters his last two years of the presidency, he faces a Republican majority in Congress.
All things considered, will he be able to accomplish what he laid out last night in his State of the Union speech? According to Donna Hoffman, Associate Professor of Political Science at the University of Northern Iowa, he might be able to accomplish some of what he laid out, but definitely not all of it.
“Well, it’s politics. This was a political speech, and the parties involved will try to position themselves to their advantage. It is very difficult in this point in this President’s tenure for the Congressional parties and the White House to work together.”
During this hour of River to River, host Ben Kieffer talks with Hoffman and Cary Covington, Associate Professor of Political Science at the University of Iowa.
