There has been a lot of talk in the past few weeks about an Iowa State Trooper who was driving the Governor back in April. He was caught doing 84 mph, given a speeding ticket and disciplined. So, what are the risks of speeding?

Today on River To River, host Ben Kieffer talks with the Iowa Governor’s Traffic Safety Bureau Chief, Patrick Hoye. He’s the organizer of the Iowa State Patrol’s “I-80 Challenge," a collaborative effort to eliminate all traffic fatalities across the entire 2,900 miles of Interstate 80. Ben also sits down with Susan Chrysler, Director of Research at the National Advanced Driving Simulator at the University of Iowa.

Then, in the second half hour, we remember one of our nation’s most highly decorated servicemen, a native of Sioux City – Colonel George "Bud" Day, who died this past weekend.
