Both of Handel’s pieces were written to be performed outdoors during royal events: a boating excursion and celebratory fireworks. Rivers Run Free was inspired by traveling such rivers as the Nile, Amazon, Thames and Mississippi, white water in Alaska and America’s countless tributaries. The concert was performed at Waterloo’s stunning RiverLoop Amphitheatre. Join us on Monday, August 1 at 7 p.m. for this Symphonies of Iowa encore broadcast!
