SOI Encore: OI Chamber's "Russian Troika"

Iowa Public Radio’s Symphonies of Iowa encore broadcast this week features Orchestra Iowa’s “OI Chamber: Russian Troika” concert. The program includes three distinctly Eastern European masterpieces.

Khachaturian’s Trio utilizes melodic material from traditional Russian folk tunes. Tchaikovsky’s String Quartet No. 1 in D Major was premiered in Moscow during March of 1871. Overture on Hebrew Themes features the distinctly Jewish tradition of the Klezmer clarinet style. Join us on Monday, August 15 at 7 p.m. for this Symphonies of Iowa encore broadcast!
