The Science of Fear

Jan 3, 2011

This hour, host Ben Kieffer speaks with Daniel Tranel, a University of Iowa Professor of neurology and psychology about his new study that has pinpointed the part of the brain that causes fear. We discuss the study and the implications of identifying the source of fear in addition to speaking about how Tranel foresees this discovery affecting treatment of patients with post traumatic stress disorder. In the second half of the program, we speak with author Jeff Wise about his book, Extreme Fear: the Science of Your Brian in Danger.
