State lawmakers have scrapped a plan to force the University of Iowa to sell Jackson Pollock's "Mural" to raise money for scholarships, calling the issue too divisive to reach a compromise this session. But this is the third time in four years that selling the painting has been raised, so it's not likely a dead issue. We'll learn about the painting's history, talk about balancing the changing needs of institutions with the wishes of benefactors, and find out how a museum makes the decision to sell a work of art, and for what purpose. Among the guests: Lisa Eslinger, Senior Vice President of Finance and Operations at the Iowa State University Foundation, Jeff Fleming, Director of the Des Moines Art Center and Joe Coffey, whose Master's Thesis focused on Pollock's Mural.
