A tragic love story set in Paris around 1870, Verdi’s La Traviata opens our series with Alfredo Germont falling in love with the courtesan Violetta Valéry. They live happily for a time before Alfredo’s father Giorgio convinces her to leave Alfredo for his own sake. Lillian Groag directs the DMMO production of this iconic classic, with soprano Caitlin Lynch singing the challenging and beautiful role of Violetta. Tenor Diego Silva performs as Alfredo, and Todd Thomas appears as Giorgio Germont.
