This hour we host a conversation with two extraordinary women focusing on their professional struggles and accomplishments. Nikki Giovanni, one of America’s most distinguished and widely read African-American poets and a lung cancer survivor, will speak at Iowa State University April 18th. Giovanni is the author of 30 books including “Black Judgment” and “Breaking the Silence: Inspirational Stories of Black Cancer Survivors.” Then, we speak with New York filmmaker Julie Dash. Dash is best known for her films “Daughters of the Dust” and “The Rosa Parks Story.” Dash will speak at the University of Northern Iowa April 20th.
