For her first novel Michelle Hoover took inspiration from a family heirloom, a 15 page journal left behind by her great-grandmother. IPR's Charity Nebbe will speak with Iowa native Hoover about her debut novel, "The Quickening," a vivid account of the landscapes, lives and relationships of two farm women who struggled to survive the Great Depression.
