Managing a Winning Political Campaign

Joe Gaylord says outsiders like Trump will start to lose steam as we approach the caucuses and the general election.

We’re just over two months out from the Iowa caucuses, and according to Republican strategist Joe Gaylord, we're going to see some sorting of the field between now and then. Outsiders like Donald Trump have been polling well, but Gaylord thinks that will change.

"I am not surprised by the amount of anger that there is out in the country. Both at the presidential level and at the congressional level, what people view as inaction on the part of the Washington insiders. There’s a lot of protest vote, but generally speaking that vote has the tendency to fall back a bit, and more electable candidates come forth closer to election time.”

During this River to River interview, host Ben Kieffer talks with long time Republican operative Joe Gaylord who literally wrote the GOP’s handbook for running a winning political campaign.
