Loebsack: Use of Force in Syria Requires Congressional Approval

U.S. House of Representatives
Dave Loebsack's Official Portrait

Democratic Congressman Dave Loebsack says the most recent military campaign ordered by President Obama in Syria requires congressional approval.

And he’s calling on the President to bring Congress back to Washington before January to authorize further use of force against the group calling themselves the Islamic state.

Loebsack says President Obama’s initial use of force in Iraq warranted, but Loebsack says it “makes no sense” to wait to start a discussion in Congress until January because military operations are ongoing now.
