Live Broadcast of CROT's "Don Giovanni"

Nicholas Carlo

Iowa Public Radio is pleased to bring you a live broadcast of the Cedar Rapids Opera Theatre’s production of Mozart’s Don Giovanni. The opera revolves around the womanizing scoundrel Don Giovanni (fashioned after the legendary Don Juan). The performance, under the baton of the CROT’s founder and artistic director Daniel Kleinknecht, along with University of Oklahoma professor and guest director William Ferrara, provides a mixture of comedy and tragedy.

The plot follows Don Giovanni as he continues down a path that eventually leads to his own destruction. Baritone Christopher Burchett performs the title role of Don Giovanni, with baritone Lee Poulis as his servant, Leporello. Soprano Veronica Mitina appears as Donna Elvira; soprano Danielle Talamantes as Donna Anna; soprano Jessica Pray as Zerlina; and tenor Jonathan Blalock sings the role of Don Ottavio. Join Iowa Public Radio’s Performance Iowa on Sunday, January 18, 2015 at 2:00 p.m. for the Cedar Rapids Opera Theatre’s production of Mozart’s Don Giovanni in a special live broadcast from the Paramount Theatre in Cedar Rapids.
