Juvenile Lifers

Jul 19, 2010

In May, the U.S. Supreme Court ruled that it’s unconstitutional to put juveniles in prison for life - without the possibility of parole for crimes other than murder. Seven Iowa cases will potentially be impacted by that decision. We’ll talk about what happens to these seven inmates… how the court ruling could change sentencing in Iowa… and whether minors should be treated differently than adult offenders. Guests include Kevin Cmelik from the Iowa Attorney General's Office, Brenda Bash a counselor/advocate for Polk County Crisis and Advocacy and Randall Wilson from the ACLU of Iowa.
