This Saturday, Dec. 14, at 2 PM, we'll broadcast a recent performance by Hipknosis on IPR Studio One's "Java Blend."
Ben Kieffer will chat with the artists throughout the broadcast to find out more about their return to touring.
Comprised of five members led by Heather Kelly on vocals, Kirk Kaufman on bass, Dave Hearn on keyboard, Melvin James on guitar, and Jon Passow on drums. The band can boast Kaufman, Hearn, and Passow as members of the Iowa Rock 'n' Roll Hall of Fame. Their sound, which they describe as uniquely Hipknosis, takes the shape of harmonies layered over guitars, keyboards and drums.
After the release of their first album, Catch a Rainbow in 2008, the band signed with MTV. Since then, they have released two scene-shaking albums. Their latest album is called Darkest Dreams (June 2012). This project took an expanded approach as Dave Hearn joined Kelly and Kaufman to become a major creative addition to the band, writing three songs and producing six basic tracks for the band's latest album.
