Iowa's Mr. Country Music & Pieta Brown

Host Charity Nebbe talks with author Terry Manley, whose new book examines the life of radio disc jockey and country music promoter Smokey Smith. In the 1950's and 1960's Smith scheduled country music legends Johnny Cash and George Jones into the KRNT Theater in Des Moines. He was instrumental in bringing Elvis Presley to Veterans Auditorium in Des Moines and forged a number of relationships with country music performers. Smith is member of the Country Music Disc Jockey Hall of Fame. Later, a conversation with eastern Iowa's Pieta Brown. The singer-songwriter is performing at The Mill in Iowa City in performances featuring music and artwork by Iowa artists. Earlier this year Brown toured with British guitarist and producer Mark Knopfler in support of her latest release, 'One and All'.
