Iowan Faselt Wins Grand Prize at NYC Met Opera Council

Last month, we showcased two rising Iowa opera stars. This month, we have another!

University of Iowa graduate, Jessica Faselt, competed alongside Megan Grey, another Iowan, in the Metropolitan Opera National Council Audition Finals. Ms. Faselt emerged victorious as a grand prize winner! Read more about her budding opera career below.

Known for her "keen expression and impressive delivery" (Music in Cincinnati), soprano Jessica Faselt hails from Kalona, Iowa. This summer, she will sing with the Institute for Young Dramatic Voices in Reno, NV under mezzo-soprano Dolora Zajick. She also participated in Opera Theatre of Sant Louis' Gerdine Young Artist Program (Summer 2015 & 2016), where she covered the title role in Ariadne auf Naxos.

Faselt completed her Master's Degree at the University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music (CCM) and her Bachelor of Music at the University of Iowa.

This season at the Florida Grand Opera, Faselt will study-cover the roles of Aliza in Lucia di Lammermoor, as well as the title roles in Salome and Florencia en el Amazonas.
