Guard Seeks Retirees

Jul 15, 2010

The Iowa National Guard this week announced more than two-dozen send-off ceremonies for the 28-hundred soldiers headed for Afghanistan. The large deployment will make it difficult for the guard to fulfill one of its core missions, to respond to disasters in its home state. To increase the number of boots on the ground, the Guard is now recruiting retired service men and women to serve as its eyes and ears in local communities.
