Frank Klipsch Clinches Landslide Victory Against Incumbent in Davenport Mayoral Race

Library of Congress
United States Courthouse in Davenport, Iowa.

Frank Klipsch has defeated Davenport’s four-term mayor, Bill Gluba by capturing more two-thirds of the vote in yesterday’s municipal election. Klipsch, the former CEO of the Scott County Family YMCA, says his leadership style will be less authoritarian than Gluba’s as he plans to focus on shared interests and building consensus.

"And when the decision is done, then people understand that everybody can't get what they want. But they know they've been involved, they've been included," says Klipsch. "It's been transparent and they feel a part of the process, and they feel good about ultimately the process that we put forward."

During his concession speech out-going Mayor Gluba thanked his wife and told Quad Cities-TV station WQAD that he looked forward to supporting with Democratic presidential candidates.

Klipsch will take office in January.
