Mid American Energy is considering whether to build three nuclear power plants in Iowa. The decision and construction is years away but the company wants legislative approval this year. The bill, once on the fast track, is now under new scrutiny as the crisis at a Nuclear Power Plant in Japan continues. Host Jeneane Beck talks with Mid American Energy CEO William Fehrman outlines Iowa’s energy needs and why he thinks nuclear should be part of the mix. We’ll also hear from economist Mark Cooper who says the costs outweigh the benefits. And from lawmakers, Representative Chuck Soderburg and Representative Dave Jacoby who must decide whether Iowans should foot the bill.
