Enrollment Up, Overall, for Iowa's State University System

Iowa State University is reporting more students on campus this fall than ever before.  The University of Northern Iowa has more students than expected. And the University of Iowa reports its fall enrollment held steady.

Reporting to the State Board of Regents meeting in Cedar Falls, Iowa State President Steven Leath said ISU’s enrollment of 33, 241 students is 7 percent more than last year’

UNI's fall enrollment, at just over 12,000, is 114 fewer students than last fall.  But UNI president William Ruud told the Regents that the number of students on the Cedar Falls campus is more than they’d been expecting.  He says UNI’s Fall enrollment is 350 more than budget projections and graduate student enrollment is up nearly 21 percent.

The University of Iowa’s Fall enrollment is down slightly from a year ago, at 30,065. UI President Sally Mason says UI’s enrollment-management strategy is working. She says the university is concentrating on increasing graduation rates rather than just the number of students on campus.
