In this encore episode of IPR Studio One's "Java Blend," host Ben Kieffer catches up with Quad Cities-based group EmJay.
Lend an ear below to some of EmJay's female-fronted neo soul/groove music.
EmJay has been performing and recording for over thirteen years. She recently earned her Associate of Arts degree in Psychology and Music Theory with the goal of becoming a music therapist.
EmJay has played several well-known venues, including the Quad Cities' famed Redstone Room and the Iowa Women's Music Festival, and has grown a large fan base in the Quad Cities area. She recently left her roots for a 9 month cross country tour spanning from her hometown Rock Island, Illinois to New Mexico, Arizona, and most recently, California. There, she gained a solid following, and shared the stage with musicians belonging to Santana, The Steve Miller Band, and even opened for the hip/hop rock group the Flobots. EmJay's music can be recognized by solid bass grooves, intricate piano licks as well as soulful vocals and bold lyrics.
