Disease in Iowa

Iowa is seeing a resurgence of pertussis or whooping cough. Mumps is also making a comeback. Just a few years ago, there was a measles outbreak in the state. And every year, thousands are hospitalized due to influenza. These are diseases commonly covered by immunizations. So, why the resurgence? Host Dean Borg talks with Dr. Luis Castagnini at Blank Children’s Hospital in Des Moines and Dr. Patricia Quinlisk, state epidemiologist with Iowa Department of Public Health.
