Downtown Des Moines's residential vacancy rate is at an 18-year low of less than 3 percent. The area has seen a renaissance in the last 15 years thanks to community investments in the arts and culture.

Iowa's cultural and economic shift away from the family farm created serious problems for the state.  It has also created opportunities for reinvention and creativity.

Host Charity Nebbe looks at how creativity and creative people influence communities and the economy with Amanda Styron, CEO of Seed Here Studio and an organizer of Iowa's Creative Corridor Project's Creative Week 2013.  Also joining the program are Leann Jacobsen, of StartupCity Spencer, and Josh Garret, president of the neighborhood association Historic East Village.

Charity Nebbe is the host of IPR's Talk of Iowa
