Color Me Iowan: IPR Mints a Coloring Book by Listeners, for Listeners

Dec 2, 2016

Every fall, Iowa Public Radio celebrates Iowa week with a series of programs devoted to exploring culture in our state and what it means to be Iowan. The theme for 2016 was “Artistic Iowa,” and as a part of that series, we asked listeners to send us their line drawings depicting what Iowa means to them. We received more than 300 submissions from across the state from artists ranging in age from 8 to 68.

Color Me Iowan: The Iowa Public Radio Coloring Book, is being printed in a limited edition run for our winter membership drive. It includes art from 20 Iowans, which was chosen to represent the diversity of the state and it's natural beauty and heritage. We also considered the artists themselves, and within this book, you'll find a variety of ages and perspectives. All the drawings included are ones we thought would be fun for you to color too!

Click on the slideshow above to see the art, and learn the names of the artists who were chosen to be a part of the book.

We're offering the coloring book as a thank-you gift during out December membership drive for a pledge of $10 a month. Current sustaining members may purchase a copy of the book through the Iowa Public Radio Sustainer Store for $15 each.

If you are a sustaining member of Iowa Public Radio and need a password to log into the Sustainer Store, please email membership@iowapublicradio.org.
