A graduate of the University of Iowa non-fiction writing program, Bonnie Rough's new book is "Carrier: Untangling the Danger in My DNA." Rough is a carrier of a rare genetic condition, hypohidriotic ectodermal dysplasia or HED. The memoir deals with modern medical science and the choices it offers new parents.
