This hour on Talk of Iowa, we speak with Chris Adrian, who has been called a "gifted, courageous writer" by the New York Times. Adrian is a graduate of the Iowa Writer’s Workshop, a practicing pediatric hematology/oncology fellow at the University of California San Francisco Hospitals and the author of the new book We speak with Adrian about his creative process, his many accomplishments and his new book which has been named one of the most anticipated books of 2011 by the National Post. The novel is a contemporary take on Shakespeare’s set in a modern day San Francisco. Then, at the end of the program, we take a look at what’s new with the University of Iowa’s New Play Festival, which is underway this week in the university’s theatre department. We speak with Art Borreca, the festival’s director and Kevin Artigue, the playwright of a work premiering at the festival Wednesday night.
