Pie Auction at Gateway to History on Saturday, April 22nd

Friday, April 21 GRANT HOME LAMPLIGHT TOUR 5-6 PM, Grant Home State Historic Site (500 Bouthillier Street) Ulysses and Julia Grant, with other reenactors and folks in period attire, will lead private tours of the historic Grant Home site. See the Grant Home in a whole new light! Good will donations benefit the Grant Home State Historic Site. Saturday, April 22 FREE MUSEUM ADMISSION; FREE CAKE & LEMONADE 9 AM to 4:30 PM, Galena & U.S. Grant Museum (211 S. Bench Street) MAIN STREET WALKING TOUR WITH U.S. GRANT Starting times at 10 am and Noon on Saturday and Sunday. Meet at DeSoto House Hotel Lobby, $10/person, no reservations required. TRIAL OF THE NEFARIOUS PLOT TO CAPTURE GRANT Noon, Galena & U.S. Grant Museum; Free HOME FRONT PIE AUCTION 11 AM – Gateway to History Dozens of delicious, homemade confectionary items will be up for sale in this beautiful, open air pie auction. Take home your own slice of Galena. Proceeds benefit the Historical Society. LINCOLN ON LEADERSHIP 1 PM – Galena & U.S. Grant Museum; Free Max and Donna Daniels will interpret the Lincoln’s in first person, sharing a message about leadership. AN INTERVIEW WITH PRESIDENT AND MRS. GRANT 2 PM – Galena & U.S. Grant Museum- Scott and Peggy Whitney will give a first-person interview as President and Mrs. Grant. The program will feature topics related to their time in DC and will be followed by a Q&A session; Free WOMEN OF COURAGE & COMMITMENT PRESENTATION 3 PM – Galena & U.S. Grant Museum TRIVIA AND SPIRITS (PUB QUIZ) 7 PM, Blaum Bros. Distilling Co. (9380 Highway 20 W) This trivia night is so much more than history. It is music, pop culture, geography, literature, and science. This isn’t your grandma’s Civil War history. This is Cocktails & Trivia, with quizmaster Bill “The Adjudicator” Margeson. Teams of up to 4. $10/person. Drink specials! Cash prizes!
