HARBISON Concerto for Bass Viol
BARBER Suite from Medea, Op. 23
University of Northern Iowa faculty artist and Artistic Director of the Cedar Valley Chamber Music Festival Hunter Capoccioni is featured on Harbison’s Concerto for Bass Viol, commissioned by the International Society of Bassists in 2005. Capoccioni shines on the concerto, juxtaposing the instrument’s expressive beauty and lyrical potential with the dramatic virtuosity of the jazz-influenced finale. Selections from Mozart’s opera La Clemenza di Tito open the concert. Barber’s orchestral suite from the ballet Medea polishes off the program.
This concert was recorded February 2, 2013.
